Skye Dental Penang is a child-friendly dental clinic located in Bayan Lepas, Penang. The clinic specialises in children’s oral care, with a strong emphasis on providing affordable and reliable treatments to local families.

The Challenge: Expanding to a New Market

Operating in a highly competitive industry, Skye Dental first approached us in March 2023 to grow their organic visibility. 

Our SEO campaign — built around end-to-end optimisation strategies covering technical fixes, user experience, and outreach efforts — successfully drove significant traffic to their website within a few months.

However, following the initial growth, they soon recognised a new need to tap into a bigger Malaysian market, especially the Malay-speaking community. 

To do this, they needed to address two key challenges:

  • Increase online visibility among the Malay demographic.
  • Rank for relevant high-intent keywords that convert, ultimately helping them attract more patients from this group.

Here’s What We Did

1. Use Malay Language Content to Capture Local Search Demand

First, we conducted a briefing session with Skye Dental to help us understand their target audience, goals, and any gaps in their organic visibility. 

After a thorough discussion, our SEO Specialist, Ezra, suggested the Second Language SEO Strategy. This strategy involves creating search-intent-driven content around dental topics in the Malay language.

With this direction, we conducted the keyword research:

  1. Search Volume: We prioritised Malay keywords with high search volume and low to moderate competition (e.g., “cabutan gigi”, “implan gigi”)
  2. Search Intent Categorisation: We grouped keywords by user intent. Most of the selected keywords had informational intent, ranging from in-depth guides on dental issues to dental treatments, where readers are likely to consider dental services.

This keyword research provided a strong foundation for strategic content that aligns with both users’ needs and SEO best practices.

2. Develop a Strategic Content Plan

Another important strategy we implemented for Skye Dental was developing a content plan that leveraged our keyword research strategies. Our team made efforts through the following steps:

  • Built Topic Clusters. We published 2-4 Malay contents per month, creating topic clusters to improve topical authority. For example, a “Pergigian Komestik” cluster included related articles like “Veneer Gigi”, “Mahkota Gigi”, and “Cara Memutihkan Gigi”.
  • Applied Google’s E-E-A-T Principles. We ensured all the content we created reflected Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. This included citing credible sources and writing with medical accuracy.
  • Wrote and Optimised the Content. We wrote each article with a focus on audience interests and SEO best practices — using organised headings, internal and external links, and clear, informative language. The content was also aligned with Skye Dental’s brand voice.
  • Published and Monitored Performance. After content approval, we uploaded the content and monitored each article’s performance to evaluate traffic, engagement, and keyword rankings.
